8 A.M. / LOOKING SOUTH, LOOKING EAST

The grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never all dried at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls.

(John Muir)

The sky and light there look very much like the sky and light here. We kept waiting for a true summer to begin, and now we have only the waning light and darkening skies. Here's to the first day of autumn.

I'm going to say it. There is a light in the Pacific Northwest that comes from you and Roger year round. Thanks so much for being here. May your own light shine, as it has before, through autumn and winter, whether you are here or somewhere in a more southern region of the Pacific Northwest. I consider anything on the coast, north of San Francisco, to be part of the Pacific Northwest. My former allergy doctor confirmed that!
