Listen

I am grateful to have heard Odetta in concert when she came to Bellingham in the 1980s. Unforgettable.

(I deleted my somewhat garbled comment. A little foggy myself)

You were right the first time. With some googling, I found that she hosted the Montreux Jazz Festival one year.

Coincidentally, I was at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967 for the deeply affecting Sunday afternoon performance by Ravi Shankar. I was startled by the instant affinity I felt for the classical music of India. Right up there with the experience of hearing Bob Dylan sing "Like a Rolling Stone" when I was 14 years old.
