BRIDGE OVER WHATCOM CREEK AT 70 AS I APPROACH 60

60. Chieh / Limitation

A lake occupies a limited space. When more water comes into it, it overflows. Therefore limits must be set for the water. The image shows water below and water above, with the firmament between them as a limit.

(p. 231, The I Ching or Book of Changes, Wilhelm / Baynes, Third Edition, July 1967)

And then there's "Love Minus Zero / No Limit":

"The bridge at midnight trembles."
(Bob Dylan)

Where am I going with this?

Forward.

Why does the comments function disappear and reappear on this post? (-:

It's been a weird day.

days - some of them are weirder than others. As if on the cusp of competing weather systems. Hope it's settled down for you.

What a gorgeous bridge. Love the plaque, too. 'Works Progress Administration' being a local translation of I Ching's 'perseverance furthers', maybe?

Love the imagery in Dylan's song too.

I'm off to deal with my own I Ching koan i.e. the line in hexagram 39 (Obstruction) which ups the ante to: 'Perseverance brings good fortune'.

:-) cheers, am
