SHELTER FROM THE STORM

As I was thinking about having heard my nephew sing "Woodstock" in an "American Rock" performance in Seattle last Sunday, these later lyrics by Joni Mitchell came to me.

"All we ever wanted was just to come in from the cold."

She is one of my all-time favorite poets.

this is a new Joni Mitchell song for me, am.

Her line about dancing one foot apart with somebody checking with a ruler made me laugh as in: ah, the relativity of it all. I remember a time when we used to envy those wild girls in English (i.e. Protestant) school because, in their wildness, they actually went to dances. (This after attending a Catholic all-girls' boarding school where we took our bath once a week, while wearing our night gown - I'm not making this up.)

Crazy? Crazy.

best to you, am. Thanks for the song.
