Suze Rotolo (1943-2011)

Artist

"We were very curious, and we were both in search of poetry, and we fed each other's curiosity."

(Suze Rotolo, from NPR interview in 2008)

Thank you for your messages. Truly. Suze.

A woman of heart and mind, loving, loved.

Of songs written long ago, she says:

"I can recognise things. It's like looking at a diary. It brings it all back. And what's hard is that you remember being unsure of how life was going to go - his, mine, anybody's. So, from the perspective of an older person looking back, you enjoy them, but also think of them as the pain of youth, the loneliness and struggle that youth is, or can be."

God bless Suze Rotolo.

Just back from a cousin's funeral, so I'm feeling a little sad and reflective.

Solitary Walker: I am sorry to hear of the death of your cousin. Yes, it is a time for some sadness and reflection, isn't it? Thank you for stopping by today to remember Suze Rotolo, a strong independent woman with a vast heart.

I thought of you this morning when I heard this sad news.

robin andrea: Thank you for thinking of me in that light. Many of us saw a kindred spirit in Suze. There is something that lives on, though. I don't know what it is, but I can feel it.

kjm: She's a true artist and an inspiration. She is wonderful in the few interviews I've heard and seen. There is strength, kindness, humor, gentleness and lively intelligence in her voice, her art work and her writing.
