The work of lightning

"A vibrant painting: the size of the canvas allows for activities in seven plain dreamings following a lightning storm. The rich symbolism of the painting is supplemented with pleasurable use of colours." (from here, painting by Moses Fry)

Watch for the flash of lightning around 1:19.

Thunder on the Mountain

"I'm just average, common too
I'm just like him, the same as you
I'm everybody's brother and son
I ain't different than anyone
It ain't no use a-talking to me
It's just the same as talking to you."
(Bob Dylan)

“This life of separateness may be compared to a dream, a phantasm, a bubble, a shadow, a drop of dew, a flash of lightning."
(Buddha)

"And the world will live as one."
(John Lennon)

"Just then a bolt of lightning
Struck the courthouse out of shape
And while ev’rybody knelt to pray
The drifter did escape."
(Bob Dylan)

“Thunder is good, thunder is impressive; but it is lightning that does all the work."
(Mark Twain)

was this a recent torrential rainfall? The lightening happened so quickly (as it does) but the thunder really rolled for a bit - how exciting!! I love summer storms.

That was last Saturday afternoon. We don't get much lightning and thunder here, but we have had more than the usual rain this summer.

That was another first, for me to be able to record a thunderstorm on video. Love the sound feature on my little digital camera.

Elemental, am. The sound of rain and thunder was so good through my speakers it was like being at the movies!

Love that painting, too.

Can't see the video clips as they must be in a format that the ipad can't handle. This summer, I did not bother to arrange internet service here at the old house, so this is the only way to visit blogs.
We have had a few lightning storms here this summer, bit not so much as last year. The rolling thunder echoing between the north and south ranges as it comes down the Annapolis Valley is truly somethingbto hear!
I followed the link to see other aboriginal paintings. Inspiring. Lately, I've been feeling like painting fish floating in a night sky and some of the images on the website are very like what has been in my mind recently. I have not had the energy to begin as days are so filled with the work here - am just finishing plastering the walls of the room that will be a studio - entually! However, maybe I am feeling inspired enough to break out the paints and get going on something.

kjm -- Until I began making these little videos, I didn't realize how much I wasn't really hearing. The green is astounding this year, isn't it?

Solitary Walker -- The quality of the sound impressed me, too (-:

Loren -- I'd like to paint like that.

bev -- Great to hear that you have an image in mind for a painting and that the aboriginal paintings spoke to you, something in the spirit of the rock paintings you see in your travels to Arizona and back.
