Yes, Doris Lessing, RIP. Oh, goodness, so many influential figures from our past are no longer around. I suppose that's inevitable as one grows older.

Doris Lessing is on my list of "writers who sound fascinating but who I never manage to get past page one with" (Dickens is another). Every now and again I have a go at them - every now and again one of them yields and I'm glad I kept trying. I'll try again.
