Clear and Cold and Windy

At around 1:10, somebody appears at the right side of the screen, walking out of the woods.

Such a beautiful song.

The person leaving the woods appeared further away than I expected.

It reminded me that I went to an art exhibition a few years ago featurin large plasma screens showing portraits and other images. You thought they were "stills", but then you noticed details like smoke rising from a cigarette. They were films in which very little movement happened.

Recently I was at the Whatcom Museum and saw one of those plasma screen images in a juried art show. The image was somewhat abstract and not particularly interesting until we noticed that there were areas of movement. While making a video of the wind on Scudder Pond, I didn't notice the person walking. It was only when I played it back in iPhoto that the walker became apparent.

It really is windy there. Here too. It always surprises me how our video cameras pick up a sound that we don't really quite hear. Interesting to see that person walk into the video.

robin andrea -- That high wind came and went. Very few leaves left on the trees now. Today it's sunny and quiet, in the high 30s. While I was talking on the telephone yesterday, a hummingbird flew to my porch and looked around. There is snow in the hills to the east. I'll be very happy if it doesn't snow down here near sea level. I love the late December sunlight light and being able to see the Big Dipper overhead at 5:00 in the morning.
